Accredited by the National Children’s Alliance, the CACFNQ works with a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) that includes the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, the Department of Children and Families Greenfield Area Office, the Department of Public Health Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (Pediatric SANE), and municipal, state and federal law enforcement agencies to provide a team response to reports of child sexual abuse, serious physical abuse, commercial sexual exploitation, and trafficking.

Position Summary

The Family Advocate/CSEC Case Manager is a dynamic, energetic, and dedicated human service professional who supports children and youth that have experienced physical or sexual abuse or commercial sexual exploitation or trafficking helping these children (and their non-offending caregivers) as they navigate the legal process or seek mental health services. The Family Advocate/CSEC Case Manager also tracks all cases and participates in related prevention, education, and outreach activities (including designing and leading training activities) that address child physical or sexual abuse, commercial sexual exploitation, and trafficking.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary contact for referrals of child physical or sexual abuse and for suspected CSEC and child trafficking cases
  • Serve as the Family Advocate for the child and their caregivers during the Forensic Interview (FI) and work closely with the MDT during the FI process and through the life of the case
  • Serve as the CACFNQ liaison for MDT members, e.g., collecting and providing case-related information (as needed) throughout the MDT process, and participate in the monthly MDT case review
  • Meet with caregivers and the victims of sexual abuse, CSEC, or trafficking at the CACFNQ or in the community, and support and advocate for each child’s unique needs
  • Participate in education, training, and outreach to schools and youth-serving organizations and groups (such as teen centers, day and overnight camps, sports clubs, etc.) to address child sexual abuse, commercial sexual exploitation, trafficking, and problematic sexual behavior
  • Provide support and advocacy for victims and caregivers throughout the life of the case, including coordination of aftercare services and care plans; providing referrals for mental health services; accompanying families to court and other related proceedings; and advocating for survivors’ and families’ rights and needs among team members, community providers, and related agencies
  • Maintain timely input of databases and case tracking
  • Convene a CSEC-specific advisory board or working group, if interest dictates
  • Serve as a liaison with community partners including healthcare providers, law enforcement, and child protective services
  • Provide psychoeducation and information to the families, e.g., discussing the dynamics of grooming and abuse, and trauma and its signs, and providing information on resilience and ways to support children through disclosure, etc.
  • Stay current on professional training requirements
  • Manage related grants, including routine reporting, and
  • Other duties as needed

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or related field (though a Master’s degree is preferred)
  • Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience working in community-based human services, preferably with children and youth
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the dynamics of child maltreatment, domestic violence, child protective services, and exploitation
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google docs and sheets
  • Proficiency in using computer-based documentation systems, and
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills

Preferred

  • Knowledge of child and youth physical and sexual abuse and commercial sexual exploitation trafficking dynamics
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, education and training, and systems advocacy
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills with children, teens, caregivers, and colleagues
  • Strong organizational management skills
  • Demonstrated positive experience working in a team environment
